  • The book presented here is a collection of photographs by pioneer Japanese photographer, printer, and publisher Ogawa Kazumasa (1860-1929), which was issued in 1911, one year before the end of the Meiji Era (1868-1912). It opens with portraits of the Emperor Meiji as a young man in military dress and of a young Empress Shoken. It contains photographs of urban areas, such as Marunouchi and Ginza and includes photographs of some structures that have since been rebuilt, such as the Kabuki-za Theater and the Imperial Theater.
